OpenAI releases ChatGPT desktop app preview on Linux

The preview release supports Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and Arch Linux on both x64 and ARM64 architectures.

Available as .deb and .rpm packages for Ubuntu (24.04 and 26.04 LTS), Debian 13, and Fedora (43 and 44)
Includes official Arch Linux support via a dedicated installer updated through pacman
Integrates Codex directly into the desktop app alongside development workflows and browser tools

Linux developers can now run the ChatGPT desktop application and Codex natively across major distributions without manual repackaging.
